It is important to arrange the opening of a Spanish bank account prior to the completion of your property purchase as you will have utility bills, community fees, and other amounts to be deducted from your account to cover the running costs of your new property.


The easiest way to open a Spanish bank account is to allow your Spanish lawyers to open the account if they have your power of attorney. This saves you time sitting in the bank filling in a large amount of forms etc. Once the account has been authorised all you need to do is pop in and pick up your bank cards and also the password for your online banking.


If your lawyers do not have a power of attorney then prepare yourself for a couple of hours to go into the local bank and the account will be open there and then.
